RECO BOT - Custom Discord Bot

A custom-built Discord bot designed to automate server management and enhance community engagement, tailored specifically for a private server's needs.

Project Overview

I developed "RECO BOT," a multi-purpose Discord bot using the discord.js library. The primary goal was to reduce the manual workload on server moderators and to create a more interactive and rewarding experience for community members.

Technologies Used

• discord.js: The core JavaScript library for building the bot and interacting with the Discord API.
• Node.js: The runtime environment for executing the bot's server-side logic.
• MongoDB with Mongoose: A NoSQL database was integrated to store persistent data, such as user warnings, level-up experience, and custom server settings.

Key Features

• Automated Member Onboarding: The bot automatically welcomes new members with a customizable message, assigns them a default role, and prompts them to read the server rules.
• Reaction Role Assignment: Allows members to self-assign roles (e.g., for game preferences, notifications, or colors) simply by reacting to a designated message.
• Recognition & Rewards System: A unique feature where users can give "kudos" or "reputation points" to other members for being helpful or skilled. This data is tracked in the database to highlight top contributors.
• Moderation Tools: Includes essential moderation commands like warn, kick, and ban, with all actions being logged to a private channel and stored in the database for record-keeping.
• Utility Commands: Provides useful commands for all members, such as /userinfo, /serverinfo, and /poll, to facilitate information sharing and community interaction.

Project Highlights

This project demonstrates my ability to create highly customized automation tools for online communities. By leveraging discord.js and a database, I built a robust bot that significantly improved server management efficiency and fostered a more engaging community environment.
